Default directional problem

Every time i take my car to a carwash (or there are heavy downpours), water gets in the directional/blinker housing and burns out the bulb. any one have a fix for this? when i replace it, there are a few tablespoons of water that falls and when i take out the bulb the bottom part of it is covered with a nasty sort of grime. its kind of annoying having to replace the bulb every carwash. i could wash the car myself, but its mid winter and its cold.
edit: its the driverside directional more often, but the other day both burnt out...

Your lens is cracked. These housings have a retarded design cuz they like to retain water, and then they put the socket on the bottom of it, facing up. (Idiots...)
If the socket is really nasty, you might have to replace it. But if you dry it out and clean it up, and put some dielectric grease on it, you will probably be OK.
But the reason it's getting wet is cuz of your cracked lens. There is a seam that runs right down the middle of the lens that always cracks. Take some clear caulk and rub it on that seam, wipe off the excess. That'll fix that....

I had the same problem with my front directionals. The lenses were cracked and the housing would fil with water and short out the bulbs. I did a couple of things to correct it (over a year now). You can either replace the lenses or seal them with a good silicone sealer and you can also drill a small hole in the bottom part of the housing so the water will drain if it gets in. Since I sealed my lenses and drilled the wholes, I don't have the probalem any longer.

Good luck!
