headlight making noise

light question i got a 2001 transam ws6 and i was woundering when you turn your lights off and they go down do they make a like a errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr noise for like 5 seconds

That means that your headlight gear is going bad. Somebody will chime in with exactly what to do but basically you can either flip it around so the good half is being used or you can replace the gear with a new one.

I dealt with the same problem a few months back. I ended up replacing the crappy stock factory gears with brass ones I ordered online. I followed the instructions given and haven't had any problems since. I guess I am one of the lucky ones because I have read a lot of people STILL having problems after the brass gear change out. Read all about it by doing a search here. I think some guys got so damn frustrated that they bought new headlight motors from the dealer. PM me before it comes to this as I may have some pointers for you.
