correct jack positions

okok, this is sorta a noob question, but i want to know the proper places under the car to put a jack for things like installing a catback, then for say headers. where should i put jack stands too. thanks

You can jack under the front control arms or crossmember and the pumpkin on the rear end. Put the jack stands under the front and rear sub frames or you could put them on the rear axle housings.

I would also suggest putting something in between the jack surface and the car. I just use a 1x4 or 2x4 just to keep the jack from marring and bending the surface of the car. Most of the floor jacks I have, have "teeth" and will mark up/deform the car w/ bite marks, if you will.
