Default yet another plug question?

Did all or most 99 f-body's come with TGK TR55's from the factory? I did my first change yesterday and was amazed to see TGK already in there. I was expecting AC Delco. I have not had them changed before unless they did so when I took it in for warranty work and they did not inform me about it.

Also my #7 plug had a small amount of oil on the threads. Does this mean I have a seal going bad or is it somewhat common when using synthetic oil since it is so thin? Was previously using Mobil 1 synthetic 10w30 but switched to the Castrol 0w30. Any input to attack the problem before it gets to bad would be appreciated. And thank you to all for your in depth contributions on this site, the info has been priceless.

Nope, you put in at least the thrid set of plugs in that car.

Oil on the plug is probably due to a leak in the valve cover area. Not the end of the world, just can be messy. Leaks tend to go towards the rear then drip down.

Check out the valve cover on that side.

All my LS1s have come with Denso plugs from the factory as best as I can recall. I always swap them over to NGKs.

Funny you should mention the "oil on the threads", my #7 does that a little bit too. No oil on the tip of the plug, just on the outer most threads. Never could figure out why, but best I can tell there is no leak at all from the valvecover or anything above the plug. Car runs perfect and uses no oil so basically I just ignore that......

No factory plugs are either AC delco platinum or Denso Platinem plugs. TR55's were put in by some one else.

I have no idea who could have put the NGK plugs in. I suspect a dealer would not have used NGK plugs. The only other possibility is when i had my car repaired, after a deer HIT ME, (hey i was on the freeway not off roading in the woods) at 80mph on the freeway, and the body shop replaced the plugs for some reason. It was not listed on their work order though so they would have ended up doing it for free. I am stumped on this one. Wish i knew who was upgrading my car for me, i would like to drop a hint about some new gears. LOL!!!

I will say the car held up well for hitting a good size buck at 80mph, never even attempted to brake. Shattered windshield, both air bags deployed, cracked bumper, broken rear view mirror, and a nice hoof mark up the hood.
No problems after the fix though. Funny as hell though driving like jim carey from Ace Ventura with my head out the window!!!!
