Default Random Light

Well, Out of nowhere I'm driving around lastnight and my "Service Engine Soon" light comes on. I know it could be a lot of things, but it happened out of nowhere. You know when you turn your key over as far as it will go when without cranking the motor.. how all the dash lights perform like a check and they go out one by one.. well, the light stays on before the car is even running (it does it cold and hot) So I'm assuming its something that isn't serious. What is you guys thought on this.. I don't have a scan tool nor can I get access to one to check it. But I figured since it does it with just the key turned over before the start - and it stays on, its something simple. Let me know!

Is the light on with the engine running? It wasn't entirely clear in your post.

That light comes on and stay on whenever the ignition is in the -on- position.

If the light is on when the enines is actually running, then you have a problem. If it is on only when you have the ignition in the on position, but without the engine running, that is normal.

Yea, it stays on with key all the way forward (and I know from experience If I remember correctly it runs a test and all the lights shut off one by one before the engine is cranked) and it does stay ON while the vehicle is running. I know the car is like a little over a quart low on oil, but I'm doing an oil change next time before I start it and run it, so why I didnt add a quart... I'd think if it stays on when the key is turned all the way before the start gets any power... and doesnt shut off there like the other lights its something simple... Random stuff

If the SES light is on when the car is running, there is an issue. The light isn't just randomly staying on, it's on because a DTC has been triggered in the PCM for some event that has occured outside normal operating parameters.

If you don't have a scanner, you can go to an autozone and get it scanned.

Being ~1 quart low on oil isn't going to make the SES light come on.

Default Codes Present

Service Engine Soon light just randomly came on while car was idling a few weeks ago. I've looked up the codes and found out some info but it doesn't really say what to check... Here's the codes.. Any help would be appreciated as for as I don't have a lot of extra money to throw parts at the car. It still runs fine, I don't notice any difference in the way it runs. I borrowed my friends Scan Tool and here is the codes:

P01410
P1416
P0412
P0418

Let me know any info you could find out. I'd really appreciate it.

You mean P0410 for that first one, right?

If DTCs P0412 and P0418 are also set at the same time when P0410 is set, this indicates the AIR pump fuse is open.
(And P1416 can be caused by the condition of P0410 -- "Before proceeding with diagnostics for P1416, ensure that the AIR pump is operating and that air is present at the outlet of the AIR pump . If the AIR pump is inoperative, refer to DTC P0410 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System for further diagnosis.")

Turn OFF the ignition. Disconnect the AIR pump relay and AIR solenoid relay. Probe one of the B+ supply circuits for the AIR Pump relay at the underhood electrical center 1 with the test lamp connected to B+. Does the test lamp illuminate?

If Yes: Repair the short to ground in the ignition feed circuit between the fuse and the relays.

If No:
Raise the vehicle. Disconnect the AIR Pump electrical connector. Probe terminal A of the AIR Pump harness connector with the test lamp connected to B+. Does the test lamp illuminate?

If Yes: Repair the short to ground in the circuit between the AIR Pump relay and the AIR pump.

If No:
Disconnect the AIR Bleed Valve solenoid electrical connector. Probe terminal A of the AIR Bleed Valve solenoid harness connector with the test lamp connected to B+. Does the test lamp illuminate?

If Yes: Repair the short to ground in the circuit between the AIR Solenoid relay and the AIR Bleed Valve Solenoid/AIR pump.

If No:
Measure the resistance of the AIR Bleed Valve solenoid. Is the resistance less than the specified value (15 ohms)?

If Yes: Replace the AIR Bleed Valve Solenoid.

If No:
Install all the disconnected components. Install a new fuse. Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF. Enable the AIR System using a scan tool. Does the fuse open?

If Yes: Replace the AIR pump.
