The other day I was pumping gas into my car and every 5 seconds the pump will turn off (like it does when the car is full or the pump is finished). It was pretty annoying, I was wondering if it was my car or just the stupid pump. Has anyone ever seen something like this? And yes I just drove the car about 125 miles so I know for a fact the gas tank wasn't full.
Yeah that happens to me all the time too. I don't know why it happens though. Its anoying but I like to pump it manually anyway so that it doesn't overfill and spill all over the side of the car. I've had that happen too.
It's happend to me a couple times filling it manually here in FL, same station/pump too - don't know why either. There was a thread on this last week suggesting it might be an EVAP code or something. Next time it happens I'm going to immediately scan for any codes. Could just be the station pump too. Here's the thread if you want to look at it: www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=436027
It has nothing to do with your car (directly, at least). Those pumps use an air bleed hole at the end of the nozzle to provide the spill protection. A lot times, the design of the car's filler neck can cut off that air bleed and shut off the pump. Next time that happens, pull the nozzle out of the filler neck about 1/2" or so. It shouldn't do it again.

Yeah, it's usually the pump/nozzle.
The EVAP system can't affect it, AFAIK.
The EVAP system purges the fumes from the cannister, not
really a "vent" to outside air pressure.
Have you ever noticed who supposedly inspects gas pumps
here in Florida?
