Trans leak

I see a bunch of red fluid right were the back of the trans and the driveshaft meet. Whats happening.

It is probably leaking out the rear seal if you see no fluid in front of the seal area. You can remove the driveshaft and replace the seal. Make sure there are no burs or sharp edges on the yoke that could cut the new seal when you put the yoke back in. Mark the u joint and the differential flange before you take it off. Some are balanced as a unit, and should be put back the way they came off.

If the driveshaft yoke is not smooth or has a grove worn in it the new seal may help but will leak again. If it is a high mileage car the bushing that supports the yoke inside the tramsmission can wear out and let the yoke move around so much that a new seal will still leak. With the back u-joint off try moving the yoke side to side and up and down. There should not be much movement if the bushing is good.
