Default Turn signal question?

When I put the turn signal on to signal left, the arrow just stays green and does not blink. Now, in this case I know that it either means I have a light out either the taillamp or the daytime running light. And I have changed out daytime ligts many times before, but this time no lights have gone out, and the only other thing wrong is that the light on my steering wheel control is out. My question is, is there anything else that could cause the signal not to work, cause it bothers the hell out of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A bad flasher relay can cause the blinker problem, but there's the chance your steering wheel control light being out is related and it could be in the wiring...

Both stopped working at the same time ?

The flasher relay is by your right knee under the dash, easy to replace...

Good luck,

First the steering wheel light went out, then the blinker two days later. And thanks for the info man. Is this something I can just purchase then install myself?

Yes, the flasher unit is about $8-10 and can be obtained at any GM parts counter.

Take off the panel under the steering wheel, the flasher relay is by where your right knee goes. It's a small metal cylinder with an "L" shaped connector on top, it will be clipped onto the metal with a small clip. Pop out old, pop in new. Done.

If one side flashes and the other side doesnt then the problem is not the flasher.

The left and right sides of the car use the same flasher unit. The Hazards use a separate flasher unit.

The front and rear bulbs are dual filament. Its possible that the brughter (signal) filament has blown out, but the dinner filament still works.

Turn on the hazards and look for the light(s) that isn't flashing and replace it. The socket could also be the culpret. You can test that by swapping a non-working bulb with the same working bulb from the opposite side of the car to see if anything changes.
