Heater problems...
Heater problems... the heater in my t/a still isn't working the greatest...what's the best way to check the dex-cool or are there any other solutions you guys could come up with as to why my heater doesn't seem like it's putting out enough heat like it should be? it just seems like it's warm but not warm enough...

02, I'll take a stab at a couple of other possibilities, one could be that the thermostat is stuck open, preventing the engine coolant from warming up enough to carry heat to the heater core so perhaps if you check the thermostat. Another possibility could be a heater hose is blocked which would prevent the flow of coolant through the heater core. Both heater hoses at the firewall should be hot to the touch, if one is cold then there is a blockage at one of the two hoses, heater core or the heater control valve is shut. Disconnect the hoses and backflush the heater core, while your at it you might as well flush the hoses also to remove any blockage that might be there. If that doesn't fix then perhaps it's the heater core itself? I've never had to go into the heater core but I hear it's not fun. Hopefully you've already fixed the heating problem and I'm just rambling on at this point! Whatever the case good luck.
Another possibility is the dexcool has turned to sludge, is the car overheating?
Take off the radiator cap (after the car is cool/cold) and look in with a flashlight, see if the coolant has the consistancy of paste, if it does, it's screwed, and you'll need to flush the whole cooling system, and possibly replace the radiator if flushing doesn't get all that crap out of there
I had the same problem with my 97 blazer, the coolant turned to sludge, and no heat, had to flush the whole system, then it worked fine

ok i'll have to check into that tomorrow...as far as i know the car isn't overheating and i stopped another buddy of mine in town that drives a t/a and had him feel the heat the car was putting out and he says his heater isn't much warmer but that mine should be warmer...but i'll definitely take a look at the dex-cool and go from there...
