Question Turning off A/C when defrost is on?

Hey guys, I'm into customizing my car to make it do what i want it to do.
I was wondering if anybody knows of a way to not make the A/C run with the defrost? or at least put a switch into it. I like to blow air onto my windshield nearly all the time but i don't want to have my A/C on to do it.
TIA!

Thats the concept, the a/c comes on to remove the humidity thats fogging the windows. In normal operation you could use it with the heat turned up, it doesn't need to be cold air just dry.

You CAN do it. It will throw a code, surely. Put a relay to make an override in line with the clutch wire of the AC. See what happens.

I think you'll find that your windshield will fog up a lot without the drying effect of the A/C but it is easy to modify. Just insert a simple on/off toggle switch in the dark green with white stripe wire coming out of the black 3-pin connector on the HVAC control. This is the A/C request signal wire. With your new switch on, everything will work normally. When you turn it off, everything will work the same as far as air distribution, fan, and temperature but the A/C will be disabled (like the separate A/C switch on many import cars). And no, it won't throw any codes.

whitebird, you're my hero man! This isn't the first time you've helped me out. Thanks for all of 'em!

Now, to find a cool place to mount this switch. What with one for my exhaust cutout, and two for car computer, i'm running outta room!
