Alternator problem

Default Alternator problem

Well the car will start but run at 10 volts, then i do something like turn on the headlights and it goes up about 1 volt. Soooooooo Why the heck would this happen??? Rotor or regulator?

get it tested and see what happens. never assume. just test it.

get it tested, when my regulator went out my vots were up around 16. you just never know.

Well the mechanic thinks he fixed the problem, he said the computer was producing a spike in the exciter wire voltage, so he wired the exciter wire to a positive voltage and used a bulb in the line to bring it down to the 9 volts required. Thanks for the input.
