Two questions, one thread !!11one Alright, so today I turned my car on and I heard a high pitched noise which was driving me nuts. But then I thought, it could be Piston Slap, but then again, I have NO clue on what it sounds like. When the temperature got up to normal the noise stopped. Is that what it was ?
Also, I bought 5W-30 Mobil 1 synthetic and Im not sure if that one of 10W-30 is the correct one to use ? ( I just bought the car) what do you guys suggest?

most likely the high pitched noise was your engine belt and once it got up to operating temp it quit. piston slap wont be a high pitched noise, will sound more like tapping.
you should be fine with the 5w30, but if you notice more oil consumption you might step up to 10w30

i wouldnt even bother with any 5 or 10W30. Id either run GC(german castrol), M1 5W40 if you can find it, or M1 0W40 if you cant find the previous two. Then theres always amsoil 5W40 if you dont mind spending a little extra cash.

I would have to guess that what you are heaing is your AIR pump if you still have it. It almost sounds like a S/C. Once the cats are "warmed" up, it will shut off. Usually around 5-7 mins.
