5" Tach
I just installed a 5" Auto Gage Tach in my camaro, I didnt get a Tach adapter I slpiced it into the PCM with the engine speed signal and then did all the rest. Im not getting the right reading its reading like 1300RPM less than the stock tach. Is this maybe because i didnt do the tach adapter? I think it should work just fine without the adapter. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you set it to accept the signal in 4 cylinder mode and not 8 cylinder mode?
The electronics of the LS1 has a type of double pulse or something like that and the shift lights have to be configured for 4 cylinder operation to read correctly.
The aftermarket tach should opperate exactly the same way.

Wait a second I just looked at the directions for calibrating the Tach and it says to cut wires in the back of the tach if you have 4 or 6 cylinder apps. but not 8 cylinder. So should I calibrate the tach according to the 4 cylinder application?
