help removing steering wheel
help removing steering wheel i need to remove my steering wheel in my 1999 camaro.....i see there is 4 bolts that are in the back of the wheel but i cant seem to find the right sixe for them does anyone know? also what should i do to prevent the airbag from blowing while im taking it apart? thanks help would be greatly appreciated
unhook the battery and some fuse (dont remember just do the battery) the airbag is held in my torx or allen wrenches.. then get a steering wheel puller ($10) ima be doing this soon (going from 94 to 96)
The airbag CANNOT go off if the ignition is removed. The ignition circuit can only go off the the airbag sensor algorithm wakes up by seeing a very large change in acceleration. Waiting 10 seconds after removing the key is plenty of safety to remove the airbag.
The airbag is not simply blow up like it is made of unstable nitro. Just don't leave it near a furance. Always place it with the metal side down. Never apply a current to the pins of the airbag module.
