Default Stock Volt Gauge

I put an Optima red top in my car a few weeks ago and now every once in a while my volt gauge will dip to just below 13 for a couple seconds, then bounce right back to normal. Sometimes happens when cold (thinking air pump cycling maybe?) but sometimes when fully warm at 50 MPH. Never did it before - does this mean I'll be buying a new alternator soon? Car only has 23K on the clock.

no its does that when im sitting at a stop light for awhile waiting for it to change, but only does it at night when my headlight and all that is on. A4 have a low idle and when sitting there the volts will go down b/c of the low idle, im planning on getting a ASP underdrive pulley along with there overdrive pulley to see if that helps out the volt issue.

So maybe I'm just seeing the voltage regulator working through the gauge? Shouldn't be an idle problem for me, my in gear idle is set to 760. I might try removing the air pump fuse for a few days and see what happens - if it doesn't stop at least I can eliminate the pump draw.

No system, only thing extra is two small LEDs wired to my SLP fan switch so I can tell when the fans are on - they're working fine with the car on or off. Maybe I'm just being paranoid and never noticed it before.
