Really Big Problem
I have a 99 SS camaro several months ago I got real up close and personal with a ditch. Since I got it back from the body shop, when I go to the race track or give my car hell around town when I shut it off, radiator fluid starts to buble out of the over flow tank. It seems to only happen when I don't let it set for a minute and cool down. I've replaced the radiator cap and the thermostat but still unless I give it time to cool off it will spit up. I've asked everyone I know what they think the problem is, but nobody has a clue. Some on please tell me what the hell is wrong with my car.
You may have air in the cooling system. There is a method for getting the air out of the cooling system. Check your manual or check with your local dealer. They (manual and dealer) can tell you how the get the air out of your cooling system.
After doing a flush, I let the engine run for around 5 minutes or so (long enough for the thermostat to open). When the coolant level drops, top off with 50/50 mixture. Do this for several cool downs and keep checking the level in the radiator until the levels stays at the neck.
yeah. the body shop may have put too much coolant in there or not burped the system. also make sure they hooked both of your fans back up. you got to remember, the better bodyshop guys are just that, body men. they are not mechanics and are prone to make mistakes like that every now and then.
