Key stuck in ignition

Wont go past the lock position, I can turn it on and off, just cant take my key out what gives?

You mean you it has complete functionality (you can start the car, turn off the car, etc...), but the key just can't be removed?

Adjusted the shifter cable lock, seems like problem solved, I dont think it was going fully in to park.

I have the exact same problem ... she is in the garage with the keys stuck in the ignition ...

How do I fix this?

I have this problem as well, I have to "play" with the keys to get them out. The lock cylinder won't turn all the way to the off position, it will let you turn the car off, but you can't turn the lock cylinder enough to remove the keys. I turn the lock cylinder a bunch and wiggle the keys until they finally come out but I would like to know how to fix this perminently.

It seems as if you all have A4's (as do I) the above solution is more than likely the reason for the problem. I have had it happen random times on my T/A also. If the shifter is not ALL the way in Park - the key will not rotate the entire way back to enable the removal of the key.

Don't know why it happens - seems when it happened to me that I had shifted the car into Park just as always - but after taking the shifter thru the gears and then solidly back into Park - the key would come out.

There is some type of interlock between the shifter mechanism and the lock cylinder that will not allow the key to come out unless it feels the car is in Park.
