Rear end leak

Well Ive been noticing lately a few small drops towards the back of the car of a very dark, thick oil. Upon checking I saw kind of a splash of oil in the tunnel part above the differential. Everything else looks clean. Is a very small leak to say the least and i think is the pinion seal. Is there some additive that could be added for this leak?? How hard is to change the pinion seal?? I would like to try a the additive/sealant approach first to see if I can avoid tooling time.

Any suggestions??

Pick up a new seal and crush collar and replace the old and your probs will be gone. I wouldnt put any additive in to prolong the inevitable.

Its not too bad to replace. Make SURE you mark the pinion and pinion nut with a center punch so you can reset your pinion preload to the same spot. Additives in gear lube usually dont work all that well. Its pretty common to see pinion seal leaks on these, mine leaks a little, I just top it of 2 or 3 times a year. The 12 bolt will fix that someday haha....or so I hope.
