Default Code P0420

The other day my SES light came on and i had it read and it was P0420 which is a catalytic insufficiency according to the computer. My question is that i am thinking about just waiting about a month until i get my longtubes and catted y and seeing if the light goes away after that and if it doesnt i would then try replacing the O2 sensor. If it is an O2 sensor and not the catalytic converting then would a month of driving hurt the motor or not?

P.S. If this should go into another section then please feel free to move it for me.....but i thought i kinda has to do with bolt-ons and kinda has to do with fixing things.

Cat low efficiency bank 1 sensor 2, it's not alot to worry about, it just means the cat isn't cleaning the exhaust as well as it should.
If there are no other drivability problems, then you should be alright for a month until you get the new LTs and catted Y on.
If the light is bothering you, you can either purchase o2 sims, or have a friend with editing software tune the code out
