Awkward Clanging - Please help!
Awkward Clanging - Please help! One day, a little while ago, i was driving and i ran up through first at WOT, hammered it into second and heard two really loud clunks... found out that the clunks were the exhaust - i had jarred it loose... however, since that moment, i've been having a somewhat loud clanging noise coming from the drivetrain... It's not near as loud if the car is in gear and i'm driving over bumpy road (something like a road with a lot of cracks in it)... but if i push the clutch in, each bump i hit, i hear a pretty loud clang... also, i can feel the banging in the shifter..
furthermore, it happens if you're turning off-camber, say down into a parking lot, and its not perfectly smooth. You can feel it in the shifter and hear it banking (definitely a metal to metal clang)...
one last thing.. i had it up on a rack once, and if the car was in gear, and you twisted the rear wheel back and forth to its extremes, it would clang really loud, sounding like it was coming from the driveshaft...
I had my buddy look at the u-joints and he said they seemed to be OK...
