Question a little confused

the other day, a friend and i were goin to pick up his car from the shop. i was goin down the highway with the cruise set at 60. all the sudden, the car just goes dead. engine just shut off and wouldn't refire. i let it sit for a few minutes will waiting on the rollback, it fired for a second, then died again. so we go get my other car, go pick up his car, come back the next day, and i start the car. it idles really low and rough. i shut it off, and try again, now it's fine. runs strong and idles smooth. anyone have any idea what would cause this. dad mentioned seeing a puddle in front of the car, but it could have just been rain run off or something. thanks guys.

Check your fuel pressure....during cranking and during idle.

Hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the schrader valve on the fuel rail. If you dont know how to check fuel pressure, you may want to take it to someone to properly diagnose it.

UPDATE. i was driving it around today and it died on me in the middle of a dangerous intersection, but i was able to get it fired back up. it sputtered a few times after that during the course of the day, but other than that, it's been fine. it keeps sounds more and more like a bad tank of gas. it just started doin this at the last fill up and i've never had any other problems with it prior to this. so i guess we'll see.
