Is this the heater core? I noticed a coolant like smell coming through the ac vents a couple of days ago. I also had a low coolant light. As I had just put the radiator back in and refilled it, I though I had a leak. I check it all out and it was fine, full, great. I figured bad sensor, I unplugged it, and no overheating problems (or annoying light 
) but I still get an intermittent coolant smell when I turn on the ac.. not the heater.. the ac.. there's no smoke out of the back so I'm hoping not a bad head gasket 
I haven't noticed any oil substance on the windshield and no moisture on the passenger floor board. Still the heater core?? Is this an easy replacement?

I assume you mean heater CORE. If you smell coolant in the vents, its more than likely the heater core. Is their coolant on the passeneger floor board? I'd also pressure test the cooling system too. They arent too bad to replace...prolly take you a couple hours.
It's about a 3/4 to half a day of work since you have to pull the dash and blow down the a/c and pull the airbox out. It's a lot of work but not too bad if you know what you are doing. If not leave it alone and take it somewhere to get it fixed. Yes the core is leaking and that is what you are smelling.
