Hard startup

Hard startup I have a 99 formula and when I rev it up black smoke comes out. Also when i run it hard it idles at 2k rpm for a little then it drops down. It also is really hard to start up.
All the rocker arms and lifters were just changed because of lifter tick. Any ideas?

It is difficult to say what the problem is without more info . I can speculate for you . Black smoke comes from burnt oil and the car staying in the rpm like that sounds like a vacum leak somewhere .
What kind of work was done to the engine here of late and why ? Usually retracing steps can help as well as information .

well the heads were taken off because one of my lifters was mushroomed. the guy told me he would flush out anything that may have got into the cylinder. all new gaskets and the oil pressure is great. I'm kinda wanting a 408 anyway, were can i find a block that will bolt right up and start for cheap?
