Default alternator

I just replaced the alternator on my camaro for the second time last night, I hook everything up, and it goes fine and dandy, so i take her down the road and about 15 mins later, that alternator is dead. I checked everything, and nothing looks out of place what could be killing my alternator? I checked and made sure i was getting fire to it. any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.

Had a corvette today that kept eating alternators, turned out to be loose connection at starter, this caused a voltage drop to the PCM circuit that monitors generator output, so the PCM thought the alternator was not putting out enough amperage. So...The PCM kept ramping up the alternator output to get the desired voltage, but the alternator was working fine, the PCM just couldn't see it do to the bad connection at the starter, this caused the alternator to crank near 16 volts all the time! Hence smoking it about every 20 miles.Anyway long story short. check all your cable and lead connections...even down at the starter.
