engine removal questions ???

engine removal questions ??? how long does it take to pull and engine out of and ls1 f body? can you do it from the top or does it have to be dropped with the sub frame?

My wife and I did it in our garage using an engine hoist and a floor jack. Total time to remove the engine was about 3 hours, this can vary depending on how much stuff you need to remove. I would say about 5 hours max to pull out the engine. You need to pull the body up to pull out the drivetrain from underneath. We pulled everything, the engine/trans/intake.

but you didnt have to remove the sub frame, or did you?
the only reason i ask is b/c i have to r&r and engine but the car has to leave the shop the same day. i only have 8 to 10 hours...give or take i may be able to get some more time.
