Default changing to royal purple?

I have 72,000 on my car and have never run synthetic in it, but I do change the oil every 3000 miles.. What benefit if any would I see if I change to royal purple? and should I buy 6 quarts and use 5.5 or 6 quarts?? thanks for the info in advance!

The engine will probably last longer with synthetic oil. Less gunk build-up in the engine.
