Couple Clunks SInce I got my car about a year ago its made two clunks. When i turn sharp while moving it starts making noises i guess you consider it clunks, from towards the front of the car i think. The second noise is when i put it in reverse and give it a litttle gas it almost always clunks, and does the same thing when i put it in drive and give it gas, and it's even done it when i had to slam on my breaks down the highway. It's like the rear is moving back and forth. From what i can tell this has to be in the rear suspension or the transmission. And one other thing, is it normal for these cars to shift firm to second even with pretty light throttle, it also sounds like it almost clunks in my 2-3 shift. These really bother me so I'd appreciate the help.
check yoru torque arm mount..the one that bolts to the tranny...chances are is that the rubber bushing has crapped out allowing the torque arm to move up and hit the damn tranny tunnell...but worth a look..also check your torque arm bolts that bolt to the rear end..especially if its friggin adjustible.
My car shifts hard from 1st to 2nd gear almost always. Only way to not shift hard is if i let go of the gas a little before it shifts. This is normal on F-bodys, a LOT of people have this. I personally didnt believe it at first but after having 3 shops check out my transmission and telling me it's strong and in good condition, i got used to it. As for the clunks, mine also does that when going in reverse. I think the transmission takes a little more time to shift into reverse and when you hit the gas without the tranny is done shifting the extra torque from the rpm increase will make it clunk. As for the braking and clunking, i've never witnessed that happen in my car but it might be your transmission mount.

Worn or dry slip yokes and U-joints
Worn engine/tranny/TA mounts
Broken exhaust hangers
Poorly installed exhausts
Front:
Rag joint
steering shaft
Steering rack (more for looseness than clunking but can cause it)
