Question Locating VATS Resistance

Ok, I need a new key for my car, but rather than dealing w/ the "stealership" I'd rather just ask you guys. How can I find out what my VATS resistance number on my key is? Maybe on my VIN somewhere?

Your vin # wont tell you anything unless you go to the dealership. You can measure the resistance of the pellet in the key, but that wont tell you which key number you have, all it will tell is is the ohms of the pellet. The dealership has an interagator to tell them this number in just a few seconds so they can match it to the new key. Key cutters should have a similar device.
