OK....THIS IS MAKES NO SENSE????
Ok, changed the oil pan gasket on my buddy's 95 LT1 T/A. Got everything put back together. poured in all the fluids, checks all the wires and connectors. everything is plugged in and in the right order. simple. go to crank the car, and the car wont idle anymore. surges from 500-1000 rpms. motor sounds like it has a cam in it now? but is bone stock. just dies if you try and put it in gear. we did let it run for a few minutes to let the fluids circulate. Car has oil pressure, temperature is fine. cant figure it out at all??? anybody have any suggestions????

Shon,
checked all the spark plugs. they are all correct. just rechecked the vaccum lines and they look correct also. Both lines are different size ports off the distr. ??? got any other ideas?

Make sure you got the elbow on correctly.
The bottom of the elbow that connects to the TB is the gotcha. If there is a gap the car will not idle worth a crap.
Make sure also the IAC is plugged in.

yes, make sure every connection between the MAF and the actual intake is connected properly. i didnt get the elbow on all the way and there was a tiny gap between the elbow and the TB and the car wouldnt idle for anything. check for crossed plug wires, IAT sensor, burnt plug wires, foul'd plugs, vacuum lines, etc. basically everything everybody has already mentioned.

Re: OK....THIS IS MAKES NO SENSE????
ok. still not working. Checked the hoses, plug wires and the intake elbow. Still runs really rough and wont stay running on its own. it does have a good exhaust leak on the pass. side mainfold at the collector. Does anybody know if on these motors, if the car will crank and semi run if the distr. is not EXACTLY back in place. it looks like it has a 3 way key on the back that it could go on a few different ways. Or does anybody no where the vaccum lines that run off the distr. go to just so i can make sure they are hooked up right? i cant find a diagram anywhere on those. I used my TECH II on it and noticed th EGR ACTIVITY is 0. is this right for this LT1? also, the 02's are reading about 400or so at idle. Dont really now much about what these are supposed to show.....ANY HELP is GREATLY appreciated...you guys have been great so far....thanks alot.

Ok. We have placed the EGR valve & position solenoid. Also have got the vaccum hoses hooked up correctly according to a diagram he found on another board. Car still wont idle on its own. I swear when you put it in drive you can hear the valvetrain going nutz. But the oil pressure is fine. We have checked and double checked everything. still stumped.
