synthetic oils

synthetic oils How do you guys feel about synthetic oil? Mobil one has been used in my car since it was new. I used royal purple this oil change race41, which one do you think is best or do you feel non synthetic is the way to go? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Re: synthetic oils I have used penzoil 10w30 in my car since the day i bought it. had the motor apart at 80k miles and the cylinder walls looked brand spanking new so ill stick with it. i have heard that full synthetics are a little thinner and arent to be used on high milage motors that were previously ran on other non fully synthetic oil. thats my 2 cents concerning the issue, wish i could provide more help than that.

Re: synthetic oils I used Mobil 1 in my car after the first 500 miles (I bought it new) and put 95,000 miles on the car using 10w30 Mobil 1 and the motor was fine save for 3 broken rings (which I think was due to my beating on it those last few weeks before the new motor) All of the bearings looked almost like new...the walls still had the cross hatch on them and there was no sign of overheating or anything.
I have always broken a motor in on the regular stuff and then switched over. I never had a problem with leaks (save for the intake leak which was fixed under warantee) or the car burning it.
Now on which one is better? I have no idea. I think GM knows something since they use Mobil 1 in all the factory Vettes so that has to say something. I don't know if Royal Purple or RedLine is any better or not.
