Charging system help
While finishing a 4 hour drive my check guages light comes on. I look at the guages, and the voltage is in the red. I jut barely make it home when the battery went dead. I just thought it would be an alternator problem so I went up to AutoZone and got a remaned unit. I put it on and it put out plenty of voltage. I thought that solved my problem. Two days later, Im having the same problem. Alternator only puts out about 11-12 volts and Im affraid its going to let out on my completely like the last one did. Any suggestions? The regulator is built in the alternator, right?

One thing about Auto Zone... The referb electircal parts either don't work, dont work right or die within a matter of days after putting them on your car. I learned that from just about every mechanic in the salt lake valley. That might be it. But you could have gotten lucky and it might be something else.
