Power Steering Noises

Power Steering Noises My power steering the last few days has been making a few noises when i turn the wheel to the right. Like if i turn the wheel to the left then move it to the right fast as if im going to park it makes a weird noise. I notice it when i am sitting still, because when im movie the sound of the exhaust (open headers) makes it un-hearable. I checked the fluid before i left work today and the car was cold and the fluid was just above the line for cold. Not sure if anybody else has experienced this. Thanks

it could be a few things, does the steering stick at all?, and have you checked and made sure it just wasnt the belt making the noise?.....you could have metal in the pump from either the pump itself or from the rack n pinion going out....check back

i got a 99 T/A and i know my racj and pinion is slowly starting to go out. makes a groaning noise when i turn hard right. also the power steering fluid in these cars heat up real fast. i know i had boiling noises when i went lock to lock on both my T/A and my beretta gtu.

Well its something like a groaning noise and happens usually when i have been driving the car for a while like to work or back home. The steering is fine has no problems drives like normal. I checked the fluid again and looks fine, so still questioning what it could be. Theres no noises of metal on metal or squealing like a belt just like a groaning sounded.

How old is the fluid? I'd flush the fluid and replace with Redline PS fluid as a minimum.
If the noise still persists, the pump is slowly dying. The groaning noise will likely continue for years, and won't go away until you replace it. I replaced my PS pump with a Turn One pump after the noise cropped up on my OE pump (autocrossing and roadracing schools caused the noise to occur). I have not had any problems since installing the T1 pump. It's not a stock replacement pump; it's been modified to reduce fluid flow rate from 12gph to 3gph. It feels a little heavy in the steering wheel at low speeds/rpms, but isn't noticeable once you start driving.
