Car to cool? I recently put in a 160 thermostat and if I read the gauge right, it is running at 120. The 180 one I had would have been running at 140. I'm not sure if I'm reading it right but the bottom line says 100 and the top line says 260 and the amount of lines between each would be 20 degrees. The car does run 20 degrees lower. Does my car run at 120 degreees or am I reading the gauge wrong? I heard the 93's gauge was different from the rest.
Even though you have the older style gauge I would ignore it. The engine couldn't run continuously @ that much below the thermostat.
It doesn't hurt your car. If you want to get technical I would bet the motor makes less HP that cold.
My gauge is currently running @ about 180 going down the highway in cold weather/rain and I have the 160 degree stat.
