how many miles are on the tahoe? If you went to a 0w30 and the truck has higher mileage, the oil might not have enough weight to it, and therefore the tick showed up.

52,000 miles. from what i read the GC is thicker than a normal 0w30 more like 0w40 or so.

did you change the type of oil...ie synthetic / non synthetic?...and if you changed the weight it could also cause the noise

Default Same problem here

I'm going through a very similiar issue. I recently changed my oil and used M1 0w40. Before that I was using M1 5w30. Now when I start my car after its been sitting overnight, I get a ticking noise. The noise increases with RPM's, and lasts about 10 minutes or so. The noise eventually goes away. What's strange is my engine did not tic like that with the M1 5w30, so I'm not sure what to do, M1 0w40 is supposed to be good for LS1's.
