Security Light Stays On - 98 WS6
This morning, the car wouldn't start. I cleaned the key and now it does start, but the security light stays on. I bought a new key and no difference - it just still stays on.
What are your recommendations that I do? Will it just stop working one of these days if I don't attend to it? The last thing I want is to be stranded!
I just bought the car, so it is frustrating I already have run into a problem.

I was told I could try this:
Get a can of spray contact cleaner from Radio Shack and spray it in the ignition cylinder, insert and remove your key several times to rub off any grime loosened by the cleaner, and then dry with a shot of compressed air (either from a shop compressor or one of those cans used for computers).
Does this mean I would spray it directly into the place where I put in my key? If so, how much?

you will never guess what happened - i disconnected the battery for 15 minutes, reconnected and restarted. It came on for about 20-30 seconds and then shut off! Woohoo!!!! I shut down and started up again and while it was the last light to turn off, it still turned off. I think I am good now!
Thanks so much guys.

My guess is that the little wires from the key cylinder were intermittantly contacting eachother. Finally on one of my start ups, they just probably finally broke or loss connection..They are very thin little white wires, delicate.
Good luck and keep your cell phone charged!
