Wet carpet..now what?
I found two inches of water under my back seat due to a bad seal with my T-Tops. I have since fixed it and pulled my carpet up to let it dry out. What should I do now to keep it from molding? It hasn't but it does kinda smell musty. Should I just douse the underpadding with Lysol to kill any mold spores? Would that help the smell?

Well the carpet isn't completely pulled up, just the section where it got wet. My buddy suggested I put some baking powder down underneith to trap any moisture or fumes. I don't have the time to pull the carpet and replace it all so I may have to live with the smell until summer when I don't have school.

I had the same problem with my car. I had about an inch of water in the floor board in the back. I completely pulled the interior out and just put the drivers seat back in to get me around. I let the carpet dry out then I took it to a detail shop and let them clean it up real good (ozone machine and shampooed). Then I put the carpet back in and left it in for a day before I put the rest of the interior back to make sure it didn't still have a smell. I put all the interior back in on a saturday, and by myself it only took about 2 hrs. to do.

I'll probably do that if the smell starts back up. I just doused the insulation with Lysol and it seems to smell good, for now. I will have to wait until summer to do anything else to it though.
