tachometer
I just posted in the new section to say hi, now I thought I'd come over here to ask a question.
I just picked up an '02 Trans Am 6 speed a few months ago. It's stock except for the skip shift bypass mod. As I got used to it, I noticed the tach response was lagging behind the engine acceleration. Is this common, and what can be done to fix it?
Thanks,
John
Here's another question. What type/brand tach is recommended, and where do you mount it? Also, do you need to run a wire thru the firewall to the coil(s)?
I'm asking this because on my 72 cutlass, I mounted a tach under the dash next to an aftermarket gauge set. I ran a wire to the coil. I put the tach under the dash on the cutlass because I like the clean stock look, also it's an auto tranny, so i don't worry about over-revving.
But, the trans am is a stick, and things are happening a lot quicker when I'm getting on it. I'd like the tach to be in my line of sight as I'm watching the road. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
John
