Default Radiator fluid boiling???

Well I was driving home in some stop and go traffic today and when I got home noticed that my fluid in my radiator was boiling. I did not hear the fans come on nor did my temp gauge go past 210. I checked the fluids and they seamed to be at a decent level. Any one know why this could be? Why my temp gauge would not raise past 210 and fans not kick on? It’s a 99 ls1 camaro with 77000 miles.

thanks for any help in advance!

Also my security light is on... dont know if that matters.

It could be air in the system, although I would think it would cause the temp guage to rise. If you run the engine at operating temp for a few minutes with the heater on high and radiator cap off (allow thermostat to open), it will work any bubbles around and out - top off as needed, including overflow reservoir. This may be the quickest/easiest thing to do first.

Is it boiling or puking into the overflow. If the gauge is normal and it is puking in the overflow it is possible you could just have a bad cap. If you have not had the cooling system open it is highly unlikely it has air in it. Replace the cap and be on your merry way.

The gauge reads 210 as long as the actual temperature remains in the 180-226 degree range. It will not rise above the 210 mark until your temperature exceeds 226 degrees.

Well, it was very low in the overflow.
