FWIW, a stock LS1 will break in fine on synthetic. Remember that M1 5W30 (synthetic) was the factory fill for the C5s.

Of course an aftermarket built engine might have a different recommendation specifically from the builder, in which case you should always follow your builder's advice. But you'd be fine with synthetic in a new, factory stock LS1.

I switched from M1 5w-30 to GC 0w-30 with no problem at all. Engine ran way better then it did with M1 5w-30 (non synth.) Also in my Camaro (v-6) i went between valveline and M1 all the time depending on how much cash i had, never had problems with it and it had 129,000 miles on it (it was a 2000)

That is the first time Ive ever heard that before. Ive always heard you can always switch to synthetic but once you do you could never switch back, even in shop class in high school. I see now though everyone is saying you can switch back and forth. I just want to switch over and never look back, I doubt it will be going back to non-synthetic.

You could switch back and forth every day and do nothing but wear out your drain plug.

Would somebody PLEASE use Google and look for oil information?

If I had a ton of spare cash to waste, and plenty of time, I'd be perfectly willing to change the oil on all 4 of my cars every day for the next 10 years, alternating between synthetic and dino, just to prove once and for all that it won't hurt a damn thing inside the motor.
