Question Another oil Pressure question

I've noticed my oil pressure has been fairly low on my Z-28. On most LS1's I've ever owned or driven at 2500 RPMs they have all been around 60 psi of pressure or at least over 40. Mine recently has been hanging out just a hair below 40 psi and won't rise over it even with the RPM's raised. My cold start up PSI reads good at 60 psi but once the car warms up it drops below 40 and won't go over it. It has never dropped below 20 psi but I keep a close watch on the oil pressure gage. I'm almost thinking the sender is bad causing the gage to read funny like it has, or maybe the oil pump is getting worn out and losing oil pressure. What do ya'll think could be the problem? I'm going this weekend to buy a Autometer electric oil pressure gage to put in my gage pod along with a fuel to air mixture gage. Any thoughts on this? I've never seen a pump just lose pressure, most just bite the dust all at once.

I have never seen 60psi at 2500 rpm (warm motor) on any of my 3 LS1s with the stock oil pump. I'd be at about 50ish at that engine speed, unless the engine was still cold.

A hair below 40 at idle is nothing to worry about at all. But if it stays at that psi even as rpms raise, I'd look into that further. OP sender might be going bad, etc.

I'm thinking the sender may be the problem, I'll check the pressure with my new gage once I hook it up. My previous Trans Am, even though it was a M6 would reach close to 60psi on the interstate in 5th gear at 2500 RPMs. My gage used to read good oil pressure but it's been steadily dropping off. I checked my oil level and it's full as well. Thanks

My car reads ~35 at idle after long driving. 45 at cruising, 60+ at WOT. 106k miles stock pump stock sender... I think your car is fine, personally. Then again I'm not a genius.

Does the sender affect actual pressure or just the reading?
