Default 1990 chevy stepside

went and looked at a used 1990 chevy stepside for sale. started it up and it blue out blue smoke, ,,,,it is in nh im in ma, will this mean i need alot of work for it to pass ???, it was nice a lift kit, big allterain tires, red color , real nice let me know all you mechanics

Sounds like they didnt like to change their oil.

It is burning oil, internally.
Whether is rings, or valve stem seals I couldnt tell you.
Blue smoke=Oil
White smoke= coolant
Black smoke= air/fuel mixture off (usually rich)
