If cleaning the keys does not work...
The wires going to the key cylinder broke off the PASS key II reader inside.
2 options:
go to dealer and spend $300 to replace the key cylinder
-or-
measure the resistance in your key and wire in a resistor of the same value to the 2 small white wires inside a orange heatshrink tubing leading to inside the steering wheel column.
