Castrol 0-30
I didn't realize the GC was getting hard to find. Glad I've got 50 qts of it on my shelf.
The old GC was green and was made in Germany, the new GC is golden and is made in Belgium, thou it still says "Made in Germany" on the back.
The old formulation (green) ends with MO501XXXX, the gold version begins with stock number MO502XXXXX if I recall correctly. This number is usually found on the bottom of the bottle. If it says its the European Formula on the front - then its the gold version. The gold version seems to be just as good as the green if not better - judging by the recent UO analysis of it posted at bobistheoilguy.com.

They put the same SKU number on both, as far as they are concerned its the same 0W-30 oil. If it doesn't say "Made in Germany" on the back you don't really want it.
If it makes you actually think, then you can follow up your thoughts at http://theoildrop.server101.com
GC is still being made. Some AZ's aren't carrying it any more. Some do. Some have it all the time. Some have it some of the time. Some will have it soon. Others will be out soon. Keep checking as long as you still care and you may find it. Buy extra if they have it.
GC is awesome because it is an actual full synthetic oil of the highest quality. LS1s like it. LS1s like other oils, too. Try several to find one that suits your own engine/driving habits/local purchasing requirements.
