Default Starter install, which to buy/ difficulty???

my starter is shott. is there a specific one i should get from summit or should i just look for a genuine gm part??? also does anyone know the difficulty of the install? any other help is appreciated.

Be sure to disconnect the battery or you will be looking like a fried chicken on a bad day. any starter will work

is it simple unbolt old one bolt in new one and done or is there more involved ex. adjustment and such??? im trying to debate between spending $250 at a shop or about $175 from summit to do it myself.

Should work fine, so will a cheaper autozone starter. Its up to you on how long it takes, typically about 2 hours or so

That long to remove a few bolts and get it out? j/w
autozone sounds like a good idea i know they offer lifetime replacements on a lot of parts

i think the summit unit is over kill for a street car application.... a good bosch unit from Pepboys should work nicely and save you some cash

Autozone is the way to go if you know what the hell you're doing on R & R.

Shouldn't take more the an 1hr.

Bottomr right side of the engine, right below the oil dipstick tube. Disconnect battery and make sure car is in neutral if its an M6.

Probably 2-3 bolts, I'm not sure if any are reverse fed through though never done a starter on my car. Jack the car up nice and high. Shouldn't take too long.

If you car is an M6 make sure its in neutral and the battery is disconnected, if not you could spin the flywheel which would make the car lurch forward which is bad when your under it and the front is on jack stands.
