Default Ignition Problem

Just lately when i go to start the car it acts like the battery is almost dead, it still starts up every time though. The first time i just thought i had left a light on overnight and the battery was drained a bit. But it does it every time i start the car.

When it does it it actually resets my trip odometer and the gages sweep. So i assumed i hadnt tightened my battery connections but i checked them and they were tight.

Anyone have a clue what wires i should double check?

Bring the battery somewhere like Auto Zone and have it load tested first. The '99's do the odo reset/gauge sweep thing with low voltage unless the gauge cluster was replaced - there's a TSB on it.

Thanks, that explains the sweep. The battery is fine though, it starts up everytime, there is a connection problem.......i think. It acts like the battery is low and has trouble cranking for a second, but then it starts right up. It even seems like if i leave the key in the start position before starting it then it starts better. I just dont know where there could be a bad connection causing this

I'd still have it load tested - it's free - and if that's not the problem if nothing else you've eliminated the battery.

2001NBMZ28 is telling you the right thing to do. It sounds as if you have a weak cell in the battery. TEST IT!!!
