my car is acting up
my car is acting up i have a 98 z28 a4 and what it is doing now is that when i turn it on after say a day at work, it starts fine and rides fine then all of a sudden i get some rough idle that continues when i give it gas. it keeps going like this until the tranny shifts then it lunges forward and after that it rides normal and it doesnt do it again. what could be causing this ? could it be the fuel filter ? or the iac ? any help will be appreciated thanks in advance

do you have any codes or ses light on? seems like it could be a few things. possibly fuel filter, MAF sensor, TPS sensor. does it happen all the time? you could try to unplug your MAF and see if it runs better. if it does, suspect that. next i would try a fuel filter. they are just a cheap preventive maintenance item anyhow so that wouldn't be a bad idea anyways. especially if it's been awhile since you've done one.
no lights on i already have the filter to switch on my next day off. i will try the maf sensor 2morrow and it happens just when i turn it on after being parked for a while
i'll tell you the car wont hardly run at all w/o the maf plugged in. fuel filter wont cause something like that either. TPS might, but you'd have to hook it up to a scanner and see what it's doing, but if it's not throwing a code then i dont think it would be the TPS.
next time you go to drive it, let it warm up a little bit (around the 150* mark) before you drive it and see if it does it. it may take a few minutes, but it's all about diagnostics.
