Default windshield wipers wont return to off position

ive been avoiding using my windshield wipers at all because everytime i use them they dont return to the off position. Occasionally when i turn on my ignition to start the car they will return but most of the time they dont. Does anyone know what is going on with them?

Try unplugging the washer fluid pump up front and see if you still have the problem. Do the wipers work ok in all the modes? delay, low, hi.

It's the wiper motor assembly. Somewhere in there is a stop that breaks off or malfunctions and the blades stop in the up position instead of returning down. It's a GM defective part. Nothing is really wrong with the motor, wipers still work just fine but won't stop in the down position. You'd think it would be an easy fix but I had to get mine replaced on my previous bird. I got tired of looking like a dork with the wipers up all the time. Thank god it was under warrantee. Sorry, but I don't think there is an easy fix. Maybe someone else knows?
