Default help, drilled the wrong damn rivets

Well I've done a window motor before and I got cocky and started flying through it because I was also doing new door speakers.

I ended up drilling out the rivets that held the entire window lift assembly, not just the motor and now I'm stuck.

I can't seem to figure out how the hell i'm going to fix this because I don't see any holes in the assembly to replace the rivets with bolts like I would with the motor.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

i gotta bust your ***** for this because a dumbass at my school just did the same exact thing, i told him a million times what to do. i guess he thinks i'm talking out my ***, but he got a haynes manual or something and turned a 30-45 minute job into hours of cursing.

i have not a clue how to put the assembly back together, but from looking at how he did his, you can keep drilling where the rivets were to hold the assembly to the door, you gonna have a hell of a time, and then just buy some bolts that'll fit.

not a major disaster but alot more work than necessary.

The problem is that when i'm pushing the window back up i can't tell if the assembly is lined up correctly for me to drill into it at all and bolt it back up

I need the car tomorrow and it's supposed to rain so I guess my best option right now is to just find something to jam in the door and keep the window up

I feel like a retard because even the first time I did a motor I had no problems, lol.

i did that, your gunna need to get someone to help you. If the regulator unwound in the door like mine did and almost took my fingers off your going to have to wind it back up in the door. BE VERY CAREFUL, IT CAN TAKE YOUR FINGERS AND OR HAND OFF. It took me a very long time i was trying to do it by myself for like 4 hours.

Well, here's a rather sad update to this thread.

I tried over night to line it up so I could drill things out and bolt everything back in but I couldn't quite get it right so I took it to our family mechanic. He got it done in a day and charged the usual hourly since I already had parts and such.

Unfortunately just a few days later, the car was in an accident and is now being declared a total loss . I was really attached to the t/a so I'm sad to see it go after almost 6 years.

I'm now considering just holding the settlement check until I can get enough money together to pick up a used C5 as a replacement for my poor t/a. I figure it'll be around Feb by then probably, so it'll be 08 then and I can most likely pick up a good deal seeing as it's a sports car in the dead of Chicago winter. I'll store it and drive my temporary car until it warms up in march/april or so finally when I can bring the vette out to play.

Here's hoping it works out the way I plan!
