I wanted to bring this thread back because i am wondering the same thing. I need to know whats the best replacement alternator for my car thats a 2000 Ls1. I thought about getting mine rebuilt but then i figured i'd get one from a parts store with a life time warranty. I've been doing some browsing and come across some 105, 130 160 and even a 200 amp alternator. The 200 amp is quit a bit higher though and say it provides 110 amps at a 800 rpm idle. The smaller alternators do not tell how many amps they provide at idle. So which route should i go?
Most of the smaller alts toss out the same idle amps as stock, they should have their output listed though from where ever you are purchasing, if they don't then I wouldn't buy from them.
