Default a question.

i have this problem but its not on a f-body its on a 96 monte carlo z34. Well the problem i been having its that it suddenly dies, but most of the time i noticed it dies when i put it park then it just shuts off but start right up.I was wondering if it can be something with egr and air system.I found the hose that goes from the air pump to the manifold is tore and i also got the code for air injection system malfunction i believe.I think it the problem has something to do with a vacuum but not sure.Any suggestions?

Wow, dusting off cob webs here. There used to be a problem with those 3.4 DOHC engines, where that when the cooling fans came on, they would draw too much current and kill the engine. The current draw came right from the injector driver, hence your injector fault code. The early chicken sh*t repair was to install an inline resistor on the fan circuits to minimize the amp drop, of coarse this also caused an overheat condition because now the fans weren't turning fast enough. But I think your problem can be corrected with a software update. If your local dealer is cool, they may scan it and check for PCM updates for free.

uhm thats wierd but even if the fans aint on still dies and idles hight then wants to die.

yea i kind of was thinking maybe a fuel issue or vacuum im going to run a fuel pressure test to see what i get.
